Dwaraka Tirumala: Pilgrimage destination in Andhra Pradesh


Dwaraka Tirumala is a popular pilgrimage destination in Andhra Pradesh, India. Believed to be the birthplace of Lord Vishnu, it is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus. The temple complex is spread over a wide area and has several temples, shrines and other religious structures.

The main temple in Dwaraka Tirumala is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is a magnificent structure and is decorated with intricate carvings and sculptures. The temple is said to house Sudarshanan Chakra, the  powerful weapon of Lord Vishnu. 

 

Dwaraka Tirumala  also has several other temples like Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple,  Varaha Swamy Temple and  Hanuman Temple.  Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Narasimha avatar.  Varaha Swamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Varaha avatar. 

Hanuman Temple is dedicated to  the monkey god Hanuman. Apart from temples, Dwaraka Tirumala  also has several other religious structures such as Pushkarini, a sacred pond, and  Kalyana Mandapam, a wedding hall.  

 

Pushkarini is said to have been created by Lord Vishnu himself.  Kalyana Mandapam is used for  religious ceremonies including weddings.
